4-Day Dubai Itinerary: City, Desert and Ras Al Khaimah
This four-day itinerary follows our Triyana Diaries Dubai journey, combining Dubai Marina, Old Dubai, a desert safari, Downtown Dubai and a mountain excursion to Ras Al Khaimah.
From our trip
Named hotels, restaurants and experiences come from our trip with friends. Alternative timing and transport are general planning guidance.

Trip Overview
- Length: 4 days
- Best for: Friends, couples and first-time visitors
- Style: Comfortable to luxury, culture and adventure
- Base: Dubai Marina or another well-connected district
Day 1 — Arrival and Dubai Marina
Arrive, check in and keep the evening relaxed. Triyana Diaries stayed at JW Marriott Marina. Walk through Dubai Marina and Jumeirah Beach Residence, where yachts, waterfront paths and the modern skyline create an easy introduction to the city.
Day 2 — Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah Mountains
Drive north, optionally stopping in Sharjah, then continue to Wadi Shahhah in Ras Al Khaimah. The rugged mountains and winding valleys revealed a side of the UAE we had not expected. Time the visit for daylight and return before becoming overly tired.
This excursion requires a suitable vehicle, confident local navigation and careful weather checks. A knowledgeable local driver or licensed tour is preferable for first-time visitors. Do not treat remote roads like a casual city drive.

Day 3 — Gold Souk and Desert Safari
Start in Deira at the Gold Souk. Explore even if you are not shopping, and buy only from established stores. Continue to a licensed desert safari in the afternoon.
Our safari included ATV riding, dune bashing, a desert sunset and a Bedouin-style camp with food, music and dance. Dune bashing is intense; disclose health concerns, follow the operator’s safety instructions and skip any activity that does not feel appropriate.
Day 4 — Downtown Dubai and Emirati Dinner
Explore Dubai Mall and reserve a Burj Khalifa experience. Our trip included lunch at At.mosphere, followed by cocktails at Burj Al Arab. Both require advance reservations and current access requirements.
End with traditional Emirati cuisine at Arabian Tea House. Its courtyard, décor and hospitality provided a meaningful contrast to Dubai’s skyscrapers and an ideal farewell.

Where to Stay
Dubai Marina and JBR suit waterfront evenings; Downtown Dubai is convenient for Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall; Old Dubai offers easier access to traditional districts. Triyana Diaries stayed at JW Marriott Marina.
